Текст песни "Slim Dusty — Old Dan"
I’m just an old man, they call me old Dan I live in a shack out of town
Just me and old Blue, got nothin’ to do but wait for the sun to go down
And when it is gone, we don’t linger long, you don’t stay up late when you’re old
Oh I shuffle inside where old blue lies beside the fireplace when it is cold
I blow out the light there in the night, we dream of the days that are gone
I ride once again across the wide plain and blue will be diggin’ up bones
What a dog, Blue will be diggin’ up bones
Comes the new morn, I wake with the dawn a habit since I was a boy
Kick the old fire together, check out the weather while waitin’ the billy to boil
Then old Blue and me have our toast and our tea and wait for the postman to come
With news of the day and a cheery hooray he’ll push off and finish his run
What a rider, push off and finish his run
And then we go back to our little old shack and read all the news of the day
And the things that we read about men that might lead well I’m glad that I’ve near had my day
My day is near done and I’m tellin’ you son this world’s changin’ too much for me
So I’ll stay here with Blue, with nothin’ to do but wait for the sun to go down
Whatdidya say, wait for the sun to go down ah well
What’s that you say I do nothin’ all day just hit here lopin’ with Blue
Well I’m 84 and he’s 10 years and 4 so there’s not a lot more we can do
What a story, not a lot more we can do.
